This past weekend was a Dollar General clearance shopping weekend for me and my daughter.  We had a fun time hunting for bargains and using our digital coupons as we hit a number of stores.  There are fewer paper coupons being produced these days, but the digital ones are easy to use and do not get lost or ripped.  All the Dollar General stores were having a sale of 70% off their clearance price so there were some great deals.  On top of that, one of the stores we visited had some items that were 50% off and then an additional 70% off!  An item costing $10 was discounted to $5 and then an additional 70% off made it $1.50.  The Dollar General phone app has a feature on it that allows you to select the store you are shopping in and then you can use the app to scan the UPC on the product and it will tell you how much it costs.  This came in handy so we could confirm if something was on clearance or not.  It also has a bonus feature that will let you know if there is a digital coupon available for the product.  This allowed us to see if we were even having to pay for something or if we were able to get it for free with the coupon.  At one store the manager was having fun with us as she showed us some items she had just found that were a part of the clearance sale.  We filled our carts, enjoyed each other’s company, made new connects with store employees and got a lot of exercise as we ran up and down the aisles.  Could not have asked for a better weekend.  Here are some examples of my great finds!  One receipt shows a subtotal of $0.27 with $1.06 for tax for a total of $1.33 while the other one shows a subtotal of $0.33- with $.62 for tax for a total of $0.29.  What a fun and inexpensive adventure!
